I need to highlight an issue with the assessment report and errors either in the template or in the tables the report is pulling from. The assessment report contains spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. (I did see another post about the grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors in the Pre-Assessment Questions but I would like to expand that). Each time I run the assessment report, I must manually review and correct 110+ pages in Word (for NIST 800-171). Through the assessment process as I make changes while trying to finalize the project, I may run the assessment report anywhere from 10-15 times and often against multiple frameworks per assessment. The process of correcting the errors in each report is extremely time-consuming and frustrating, as well as introducing a risk of errors slipping through to our customers. If, or really when, that happens, each error reflects poorly on me, as the assessor, my company and ControlMap directly impacting the quality and professionalism of the assessment we deliver.
To clarify, this isn’t about British vs. American English differences (e.g., "s" versus "z")—I’m referring to actual misspellings and grammar issues that should ideally be addressed within ControlMap.
I’ve raised this issue through other channels in the past but as we are utilizing ControlMap more for assessments with our customers, it is becoming more and more of an issue. Please let me know:
- Is there any plan to review and hopefully correct these issues?
- Are there any options for us to modify or customize the templates within our customers’ tenant to prevent these errors from appearing in the first place?
Additionally, we’ve previously requested the ability to export the objectives (or controls), additional assessment requirements (NIST 800-171), status, response, notes, and any corresponding action items into a raw format so we can use our own templates and avoid some of these problems while these things are corrected. I would really like Scalepad to reconsider that feature, as it would provide a helpful alternative in the interim.
We appreciate all the work that goes into maintaining and improving the platform and would love to see this issue prioritized in an upcoming update. Is this something that could be addressed in the near future? If there's a roadmap or timeline for this type of refinement, I'd appreciate any insights you could share. Looking forward to any insight and thanks in advance for your time!
