We were able to get to several questions that you asked live, but weren’t able to answer all of them in the time we had available. Here are the outstanding questions that remained, and our best answers for you.
If you asked these questions, or would like to clarify further, please drop a comment in below!
Quote Editor Enhancements
Q: Any plans on making the line item editor transferrable to quotes? It still sends a long list of items to the customer, which makes the quote very long and clunky and not as streamlined like it does on the backend.
A: Yes, there are ways to make quotes more streamlined today. You can reduce line item space by removing or shortening descriptions, or by removing images from descriptions. You can also bundle items so only the bundle title is shown to the customer, hiding the individual line items.
We’re also working on improvements to quote styling, and we’ll keep your feedback in mind as we make those updates.
Q: Something like tabs, or an easier breakdown of items over a long list like we have now, to keep everything more organized
A: We are exploring options for better organization of line items within quotes, such as tabs or other methods for breaking down long lists, to enhance clarity and user experience. Good suggestion; not something we have in place right now.
Hope that works for you? If you have more context, please add it as a comment; would be good to explore this further.
Q: Any ability to hide the item description either per line item or for the entire quote? Without having to delete the description manually for each item
A: We do have an idea logged for this; good suggestion. You could suppress descriptions in a few ways:
- Use our API to add or update items directly in your product catalog, which can prevent unwanted descriptions from coming in from sources like Product Cloud.
- Remove descriptions manually when creating the quote (more work).
- Use bundle functionality to hide individual line items from the customer, rolling them into a single visible item while keeping all details for procurement.
Service Charges and Section Groups
Q: Due to the economic situation with some imported goods, we are starting to notice a not-insignificant change in how often "handling" charges are being appended by distributors. Is there an ability in this new release to append "service" charges to a quote, independent of shipping charges? Adding a line item that gets grouped in with services/goods being quoted does not look good.
A: Some ideas here on handling (see what I did there?) tariff-related challenges with quoting: https://www.scalepad.com/blog/how-to-handle-tariffs-in-msp-quoting-2025/
Is there an ability in this new release to append "service" charges to a quote, independent of shipping charges? Adding a line item that gets grouped in with services/goods being quoted does not look good.
Fair comment; good suggestion.
- Best workaround would be to add a flat fee for a service charge as a separate item: https://help.quoter.com/hc/en-us/articles/32086149559963-Flat-Fee-Pricing.
- You could also include a bundled line item for the service charge (https://help.quoter.com/hc/en-us/articles/32085761831195-Bundles), though this would need to be added manually.
Q: Are Section Groups included in every package or is that a separate add-on?
A: Section Groups are included in our Pro plans and above, but can be added on separately to any Quoter plan.
Check out https://www.scalepad.com/quoter/pricing/ to see what’s included in each plan.
Integrations and Security
Q: Any idea if you will be connecting tax exempt status from Connectwise into Quoter so we won’t have to enter their number on each built quote?
A: We do have an idea; it's not on the current roadmap. We have previously explored integrating tax exempt status from ConnectWise into Quoter to automate the process. Taxes are tough is the short answer.
Our best workaround is to use a tax-exempt quote template, but you will need to know the person/org is tax-exempt in advance.
Q: On the security side – can a read only role be created? We've got a number of people who want to see what's going on, but don't want to allow them to make changes.
A: There are a variety of permissions associated with different roles in Quoter, though we don’t have a completely view-only role across the board: https://help.quoter.com/hc/en-us/articles/32085774615707-User-Permissions
- We are expanding our reporting capabilities in Quoter, and this could solve for a read-only / view-only use case.
- Manager Approval rules can also help encourage users that you prefer to have restrictions on to not make edits, as they can be set to trigger for all quotes from a particular user. https://help.quoter.com/hc/en-us/articles/32086316387227-Manager-Approvals
Q: Are options easily updated by the item import CSV, especially the pricing
A: Yes, our line item import allows you to add products or services (including pricing) directly onto a Quote by uploading a CSV file. There are a few limitations and entitlement differences depending which Quoter plan you’re on, so it’s worth reading our KB article to get into the details: https://help.quoter.com/hc/en-us/articles/32085643143451-Line-Item-Import
Our recommendation is to build these into quote Templates if they’ll be used going forward, but a CSV import has its place.
Additionally, many MSPs leverage our API to maintain updated item pricing in Quoter
Q: Any plans to integrate with Recur360?
A: While we don’t have Recur360 on our current roadmap, we have added Benji Pays and FlexPoint, and will have Alternative Payments and WisePay added in the next couple of weeks.
Edit: just added WisePay Aug 15!
Will add this to our Community Product Ideas; please check out the others that Quoter partners have contributed here.
Filtering Capabilities & Others
Q: For filtering, can you filter on multiple values such as number? Can see that's an option for tags which is good.
A: You can add multiple filters, including a quote number filter, on our Quote List.
Are you able to provide more context for this? We could look at the use case in more detail; just don’t quite understand how you’d use a filter on numbers.
Q: Can you pull in products and items from Etilize like CDW, Synnex etc or are they all custom?
A: Yes! GfK Etilize is available through our Product Cloud (https://www.scalepad.com/quoter/features/product-cloud/) and we pull in product and item images and descriptions, as well as real-time pricing and availability, from multiple vendors. You can add your own images or descriptions if you choose, but our recommendation is to use the pre-populated descriptions in Product Cloud as available.
Q: Copy and pasting line items, whether in the same section or different sections; should the line item be exactly the same?
A: Currently, we allow users to copy line items, and now with our enhanced Line Item Editor, they can be dragged anywhere on the quote.
To improve this though, we’re investigating the ability to select multiple line items at once and easily create copies of them in different areas on the quote. Is that along the lines of what you’re looking for?
Q: Would you be able to tie specific SOW to Products?
You could handle Statements of Work (SOWs) using content blocks by creating a version of each common SOW type as a reusable block. These would be written to keep the content accurate but generic, so they can be dropped into templates or quotes and then customized for each client.
For example, if you regularly outline similar project types, the standard elements that apply to every client could be pre-written in the content block, while leaving placeholders or editable sections for the salesperson to fill in specific details. The content block should remain unlocked so sales can make those edits before sending the quote.
By having a few versions ready for your most common project types, you’d save significant time compared to building the SOW manually or embedding it in a template. Salespeople would simply insert the relevant content block, make the necessary adjustments, and move on — a much faster and more consistent process.
Keep your eyes on our Product Updates for content blocks coming out later this year!
